Visit of Academics of the Catholic University to the IGM

In July 2010 the Military Geographic Institute (IGM), headquarters of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for UGI 2011, was visited by four leading academics of the Catholic University of Chile; the rector of this University, the Dean of the History, Geography and Political Sciences Faculty, the Director of the Institute for Geography, and a Professor of that Institute (respectively Dr. Ignacio Sánchez D., Dr. José Ignacio González, Dr. Federico Arenas V., and Prof.-Dr. Cristian Henríquez R.).

They were received by the Director of the IGM and President of LOC, Colonel Juan Vidal G.-H. Matters of scientific interest and the activities of both institutions were discussed, particularly the participation of academics from the Institute for Geography of the University in the Scientific Sub-Committee of LOC, thus strengthening the current and future initiatives involving this major international event.
