The Chilean Society for Geographic Sciences becomes a Patron of UGI 2011.

On the 28th of May 2011 the Steering Committee of the Chilean Society for Geographic Sciences (SOCHIGEO in Spanish initials) held a joint meeting with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and with representatives of the Scientific Sub-Committee (SSC), in order to formally establish the support and patronage of the Society for the Regional Geographic Conference to be held in November 2011. SOCHIGEO was represented by Prof. Basilio Georgudis M. (Chairman), Dr. Francisco Ferrando A. (Vice-chair and also a member of UGI 2011 SSC), Dr. Marcela Sanchez M. (Secretary), Dr. Mireya Gonzalez L. and Dr. Marcelo Garrido P. (both members of the Steering Committee). On this occasion, together with expressing support for the activities to be managed jointly, UGI 2011 was highlighted as a way for the international and local geographic communities to meet and gather together.
